2010Canterbury & District Bat & Trap LeagueIncorporated 1922Bat & Trap is a simple, harder-than-it-looks outdoor team game played with bat and ball. An ancestor of cricket, (it’s played on a pitch 1 yard shorter than a cricket pitch) it’s been played in Kent for hundreds of years. 2010 is the 88th year of League operations. We only play at licensed premises, so there are plenty of opportunities to visit many fine Kentish pubs (and sample the beers!) while getting exercise. Beside the 18 week league season, we also have 5 Cup competitions and 2 Tournaments, so there’s a lot of opportunity to win silverware.New teams that operate within our catchment area (roughly within 7 miles of Canterbury) are welcome to talk to us.During the season there will also be up to date tables of the various league and cup competitions. Links to all pages are either here on the page or in the menu bar at the top.If you already play bat & trap, we are keen to get more pictures than we currently have for our gallery. If you have any pics we’d be glad to have them. And if you are playing somewhere other than the UK we would be very glad to hear from you. As you can see from the Clustrmap below, we get visitors from all over the world. In fact we’ve had visitors from 36 countries at the last count!

HistoryThis is the oldest and largest league league dedicated to the playing of this game of ours. This gives a good background to how the league got started.RulesVery important things, rules. Where would we be if we didn’t have rules? France! There wasn’t a complete formal set of rules until the late 1990s, but everyone knows what they are now.CalendarIt can be quite challenging to fit in a set of league fixtures, cup competitions and tournaments in the time available, but once it is done the calendar for the season is published here.FixturesOnce the Calendar has been worked out, the next thing is to do the fixture lists for all the league matches, so that teams know who, where and when they are playing!TablesThis is what the teams do it for. The all important League Tables! As with any league, teams can’t wait to see how they are doing in the tables. Years ago they had to wait to see them in the press.88th Year
